Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy - Tips to combat Morning Sickness- #daisydoulatastytuesdays

Momma’s the fight against morning sickness may be wearing you down but here are some strategies to get you through it!

1.     Practicing mindful/intuitive eating refers to being aware of your body’s natural cues in relation to food. In other words, this means nourishing your body when it is hungry, as well as noticing and stopping when you are full. You are also the only one that knows what kinds of foods satisfy you, what foods feel good to eat, and when you need to eat.

2.     Limiting sugary, fried, and super rich foods will most likely make you feel less nauseated. These types of food can make you feel worse as it alters your blood sugar levels. Incorporating a source of fat, fiber, and protein to all meals, eating regular small meals, and adding more leafy greens to your plate are all great ways to balance your blood sugar levels. Alternatives to protein meat sources include quinoa, beans, and nuts.

3.     Consuming easily digestible foods such as banana’s, avocados, apple sauce, puréed vegetable soup, and sliced apples, spread with a couple teaspoons of almond butter may be the best remedy for your upset stomach.

4.     There are also many healing foods, vitamins, & minerals that you can incorporate into your diet to help combat nausea. This includes ginger, vitamin B6, Magnesium, as well as Lemon.

Other tips

  • Continue to take your prenatal vitamins to support your nutrient needs.

  • Avoid dehydration by drinking adequate fluids throughout the day.

  • Keep nutrient dense snacks in easy to access places, like your purse, car, etc. so you are never without food when hunger strikes.

Remember to practice being kind to your body as it changes throughout your pregnancy journey!
